Unfortunately, talking to 99% of the people about interlace/de-interlace is like talking to the 99% film-industry people about the difference between 60fps vs 24.īefore PowerPlay DVR, I tried FXT-DVR which is also 60fps.
My preferred capture device is the Canopus ADVC-100, one of the best analogue video capture devices out there, and comparing a capture from the PowerPLAY to the Canopus shows how the PowerPLAY has cropped & resized the source, introducing sharpening artifacts (bright single pixel halos round edges). I've been working with captured analogue video for decades now so I know exactly what I'm looking at. The PowerPLAY's deinterlacing technique is like every single other 60fps FPV DVR out there - all it does is separates the fields which produces footage that jumps up/down by a single pixel. I'm not screwing anything up, the PowerPLAY already did that, stop trying to lay the blame on me.
